20mph speed limits in Edmonton, Palmers Green and Southgate town centres – decision to implement
Following the statutory consultation, a decision was made to implement 20mph speed limits in these three town centre areas. 20mph speed limits have many benefits including:
- Reducing road danger and accidents
- Healthier and calmer neighbourhoods with less traffic noise
- Improving health and wellbeing with improved air quality and more journeys taken by walking, wheeling, cycling and using public transport.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond to the statutory consultation on the proposed 20mph speed limits. Following careful consideration of the feedback received, the decision has been made to proceed with implementing the scheme in these town centres. The Key Decision report approving the introduction of the 20mph speed limits including the responses to the objections raised can be found here.
The Traffic Orders, which formally enables the scheme to be introduced, along with the associated drawings showing the roads affected, are available:
The 20mph speed limits in Edmonton, Palmers Green, and Southgate Town Centres will officially come into operation on Friday 6 March 2026.
Thank you for your contribution!
