Bowes East Controlled Parking Zone - Statutory Stage

Overview

In August 2022, Enfield Council consulted on proposals for a Bowes East Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ). A positive response was received overall. The Council continues to believe a controlled period of Monday to Friday 11am to 1pm will be effective at interrupting most commuter parking activity without unduly impacting residents and their visitors.

The leaflet and plan found at these pages and delivered to homes across the area at the end of April 2023 show the revised proposals. This forms part of the consultation process that must be carried out before the scheme can progress.

Permit prices:

The Council’s annual prices for resident permits (in short hour zones) are shown below. The proposals do not include business permit provision. Permits are, and will remain, free to blue badge holders. Nurses etc needing to visit clients within Enfield’s parking zones can apply for an essential user permit. Visitors providing routine care to family members based in the zone can also apply for a permit, priced as shown. In other cases, a scratchcard system is used to allow visitors to park in bays during the controlled period. These are only sold to households within the zone. A book of ten costs £10.50.

Changes made to proposals since August:

Demand for cycle hangers in the area remains high. The proposals retain 2 new hangers, creating parking space for 12 cycles across the neighbourhood, but some previous positions have been deleted where local objections were submitted.

Two disabled bays have been proposed near the dental surgery on Upsdell Avenue, intended for communal use by blue badge holders. They provide improved parking opportunities for blue badge holders making visits to the dentist, nearby main road premises or the doctors surgery on Grenoble Gardens.

The layout shown includes various minor changes where the number or position of domestic disabled bays and crossovers has changed since last summer.
