Pavilion on the Green

Why a Pavilion has been installed on the Green?

The Pavilion on The Green is Edmonton Green’s own Culture Place: an outdoor cultural and community space for Edmonton Green to encourage the local community to dwell in and enjoy a local green space.

The design for the temporary Pavilion, which will be on site for the next 3 years, has been developed by Fisher Cheng Architects in collaboration with the local community during a series engagement events in Summer ’23.

The delivery of the Pavilion on The Green is integrated within a longer-term project for the improvement of The Green which include improvements to the open space and the potential restoration of the railway arches, if funding is secured.

What will the Pavilion be used for?

A Summer Programme of cultural and community activities will take place at the Pavilion throughout Summer ’24, including the Untold Edmonton Festival.

More information on the programme can be found on the Let’s Talk page and on https://paviliononthegreen.eventbrite.com/

Outside of the Summer programme, the Pavilion is available for anyone to use, without the need to book.

    How is the project funded?

The project is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025. The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.
