Statutory consultation - Tenniswood Road intersection
The Enfield Town to Broxbourne Walking and Cycling Route aims to deliver walking and cycling improvements on local roads and along the path adjacent to the New River. Community events were held during December 2021 to present the proposed designs and discuss the project which is part of the Council’s ambitions to develop an active travel network and enable more people to walk and cycle across the borough.
A draft traffic order for the on-carriageway section from St Andrew’s Road to the Tenniswood Road / New River Path intersection was published in February 2022. Following the statutory consultation, a decision was made to implement the project and proceed to construction for the modifications outlined in the traffic order. However, there has been a proposed change to the design for the Tenniswood Road / Willow Road intersection as a result of feedback received during consultation.
The design for the Tenniswood Road / Willow Road intersection is proposed to be changed from a “Dutch-style” roundabout to a priority junction. A priority junction is intersecting roads that operate with give-way markings, with priority being given to traffic travelling along Willow Road. Pedestrian and cycling facilities are proposed, including raised pedestrian and cycle crossings on Willow Road and segregated cycle tracks on the corners of the intersection. Following this design change, we have now published a draft traffic order (here) for the updated design for the intersection of Tenniswood Road / Willow Road. We would like to invite you to take part in the statutory consultation for the draft traffic order for this intersection.

Anyone can provide comments on the draft traffic orders. Please make your representation or objection in writing stating the grounds on which it is being made and quoting the reference TG1513 no later than 11.59pm on 07 December 2022. Following the statutory consultation, a formal report will be produced that summarises the feedback received and Enfield Council’s response. This report will inform the decision of whether to make the draft traffic order permanent and implement the modifications to the intersection of Tenniswood Road / Willow Road. The report will be publicly available and will be uploaded to the project page.
As outlined above, this consultation is focused on the intersection of Tenniswood Road / Willow Road only.
