Enfield Council are proposing a cycling route the connects Enfield Town to the existing cycling infrastructure on Slades Hill.

The project is at an early stage and currently the Council has funding to develop the concept design from Transport for London (TfL) and S106 contributions.

The proposed route will provide a quieter and safer route for people walking and cycling to connect East-West across Enfield including to key destinations such as Enfield Chase and Enfield Town. There are multiple schools in this area that would benefit from walking and cycling improvements alongside the new Chase Park development.

The project will link the upgrades being delivered as part of the Enfield Town Liveable Neighbourhood project at the Chaseside / Old Park View / Windmill Hill junction to the existing cycle infrastructure on Slades Hill at the Slades Hill / Camp Road junction. This existing route currently experiences two-way traffic flows of over 1,200 vehicles per hour and is therefore considered inappropriate for an unprotected cycle route. The road constraints mean that a protected and designated cycle lane is not feasible along this corridor, so we are proposing a quieter route along Gladbeck Way, The Coppice and Old Park View. This means that people cycling with be directed through signage and wayfinding while mixing with traffic.

A map of the proposed route can be found in the Document Library on the right-hand side of the page.

There are no designs proposed at this stage. As funding becomes available, we will progress to developing a concept design which the public will have an opportunity to provide feedback on during a period of community engagement which will be carried out in the future.
