Construction Update: Phase 1 – Section 4 Oldbury Road and Brick Lane
Enfield Council is making walking and cycling improvements across the borough. The New River to Brick Lane Walking and Cycling Route is being delivered by the Council’s Journeys and Places programme which delivers on the Council’s ambitions to enable more people to walk and cycle across the borough.
Following community engagement including a statutory consultation, the decision was made to implement the proposals and proceed with the construction of the modifications outlined in traffic order TG52/1547. The project is now being delivered in phases. We have recently completed construction of Phase 1 – Section 1 from Tenniswood Road to Ladysmith Road, and Section 2 of the project from Ladysmith Road to Cambridge Gardens is now coming to an end. We will soon commence construction of Phase 1 – Section 4 on Oldbury Road and Brick Lane. This section includes works along Oldbury Road to improve visibility and accessibility to the entrance of the path from Oldbury Road towards Great Cambridge Road, and on Brick Lane to enhance traffic flow and road safety.
We will inform residents as we progress to future phases of the project including future opportunities to comment via statutory consultation processes. Construction works are scheduled to commence on Monday 14 October 2024 and will take approximately 10 weeks. The works will be carried out under a series of traffic management layouts and will provide an improved facility for people cycling and walking. Please note the schedule is subject to change should any unforeseen circumstances arise.
During these works, there will be some temporary road closures in place to construct speed cushions and install new drainage connections. Signage will be erected prior to the road closure coming into force, so please familiarise yourself with any signage to make sure you are fully informed of the planned movements.
We understand that construction works of this nature can cause some disruption and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. We and our contractor work hard to ensure that disruption is minimised where possible whilst the works are undertaken.
Should you have any queries about the upcoming works please contact our contractor Kenson Highways at PLO@KensonHighways.com. If your question is about the project generally please contact the Enfield Council Journeys and Places team at JourneysandPlaces@enfield.gov.uk.
Thank you for your contribution!
