New River to Brick Lane walking and cycling route – project update
Enfield Council is continuing to improve local streets, helping to make walking and cycling safer, easier and more pleasant for everyday journeys.
We are making good progress on the latest phase of the New River to Brick Lane walking and cycling route. Current works are focused on the junctions of Brick Lane with Mapleton Road and Barnard Road, where changes are being made to improve safety, make it easier to cross the road, and introduce more greenery into the area.
What we’ve done so far
Works are progressing well across both locations:
Works on Barnard Road are now complete
-
Works on Mapleton Road began on 23 February and are being delivered in two phases
The east-side footway was completed on 06 March
Construction on the west-side footway and is expected to be completed on 17 April
As we move into the final stage of the project, the rain garden and new planting on Mapleton Road will be installed, helping to create a greener and more attractive street.
What happens next
We expect the project to be completed between mid and late April.
We understand that roadworks can be disruptive, and we’d like to thank you for your patience while we carry out these improvements.
