Construction update: Phase 1 - Section 2 Ladysmith Road to Cambridge Gardens
Enfield Council is making walking and cycling improvements across the borough. The New River to Brick Lane Walking and Cycling Route project is being delivered by the Council’s Journeys and Places programme which delivers on the Council’s ambitions to enable more people to walk and cycle across the borough.
Following engagement including a statutory consultation, the decision was made to implement the proposals and proceed with construction of the modifications outlined in traffic order TG52/1547. The project is now being delivered in phases. We have recently completed construction of Phase 1 – Section 1 of the project from Tenniswood Road to Ladysmith Road, and will soon commence construction of Phase 1 – Section 2 from Ladysmith Road to Cambridge Gardens. This section includes works along Ladysmith Road to improve visibility and accessibility to the entrance to Enfield Playing Fields, and on Cambridge Gardens to enhance traffic flow and road safety.
We will inform residents as we progress to future phases of the project including future opportunities to comment via statutory consultation processes.
Construction works are scheduled to commence on Monday 2 September 2024 and will take approximately 4 weeks. The works will be carried out under a series of traffic management layouts and will provide an improved facility for people cycling and walking. Please note the schedule is subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
We understand that construction works of this nature can cause some disruption and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. We and our contractor work hard to ensure that disruption is minimised where possible whilst the works are undertaken.
Should you have any queries about the upcoming works please contact our contractor Kenson Highways at PLO@KensonHighways.com. If your question is about the project generally please contact the Enfield Council Journeys and Places team at JourneysandPlaces@enfield.gov.uk.
