July 2023 Early engagement analysis report

The Journeys and Places Team would like to express our gratitude to all those who actively participated in the engagement process that took place earlier this year for the New River (Tenniswood Road) to Brick Lane Walking and Cycling Route project. The early engagement report is currently being prepared and will be published shortly.

Since the engagement period we have been working on the concept design for the project. The ideas and issues raised by residents during the early engagement process has contributed to the development of these designs. The primary focus of this scheme is the implementation of a Quiet Cycleway, which will extend from the New River (at the Tenniswood Road bridge) to Cycleway 1 (Hertford Road) via Brick Lane. Additionally, we have proposed interventions that aim to enhance the experience of walking and cycling throughout the entire route.

Moving forward, our next step entails developing a detailed design for the project. We will share the design with the community in due course. Should the project continue to progress, the draft traffic order for the project will be subject to a period of statutory consultation. This offers residents the opportunity to voice their support or objections to the proposed plans and review the detailed proposals. We will write to residents and businesses in the area as well as post an update on the project page with more information about this opportunity when it arrives.

We sincerely appreciate your continued involvement and support in this project.
