Upcoming Construction Works – New River to Brick Lane Walking & Cycling Route (Phase 2)

Enfield Council is continuing to improve local streets so that walking and cycling feel safer, easier and more pleasant for everyday journeys.

The next phase of works on the New River to Brick Lane walking and cycling route will focus on the junctions of Brick Lane with Mapleton Road and Barnard Road. These changes are designed to improve safety, make crossing the road more straightforward and introduce more greenery into the street.

What we’re doing

We’ll be making improvements at the junctions of Brick Lane with Barnard Road and Mapleton Road to improve safety, support walking and cycling, and add more greenery to the street.

When this is happening

Work is due to start on Monday 12 January 2026 and is expected to take around 12 weeks. Construction will be carried out one junction at a time to help reduce disruption. Temporary road closures will be needed at certain points, with advance signage in place. Access for residents, businesses and emergency services will be maintained wherever possible.

We know roadworks can be inconvenient and we appreciate your patience while these improvements are delivered.
