Community launches Shaping Edmonton
Thank you to everyone who joined us on Thursday 27 March at the Shaping Edmonton community launch event. The event was held at the new Community Room in the Living Room Library on Fore Street which will act as a hub for the programme and exciting initiatives happening across Edmonton.
It was fantastic to see so many people attend and participate in the event, including residents of Edmonton, local businesses, school pupils, families, local artists and other stakeholders. Leader of Enfield Council, Cllr Ergin Erbil, and Cabinet Member for Climate Action and Placemaking, Cllr Sabri Ozaydin, both spoke at the event emphasising the commitment the Council has to improving Edmonton in partnership with the community.
Curated in partnership with Fore Street for All, the event was a vibrant showcase of local artists and community members alongside the 11 projects that will be delivered across Edmonton over the next two years. Fore Street for All ran an engaging board game about each of the Shaping Edmonton projects while guests enjoyed exhibitions of photography, watercolour artworks, and sound experiences. Guests also participated in workshops on 3D tapestry weaving and knitting while enjoying salsa performances and caricature portrait painting. We would like to say a big thank you to Fore Street for All, along with the artists, exhibitors, workshop hosts and local community members who brought this event to life:
- Jeanette Hunter who hosted the knitting workshop
- Sam Cooney who hosted the 3D tapestry weaving workshop
- Sean Anthony who exhibited his photography titled ‘Working class pride in Upper Edmonton’
- Bernard Owusu who exhibited his photography titled ‘Creatives of Upper Edmonton’
- Lucia Scazzocchio who created the sound art exhibition
- Qwynto who drew caricature portrait drawings
- Alma Latina who performed salsa dancing
- Fore Street for All (Yuting, Richard, Jade and Cellina) who hosted the Shaping Edmonton board game
There is an exciting programme of activity to engage in Shaping Edmonton and contribute to how we design and deliver these projects. Find out more on the Shaping Edmonton project page. Here you can also subscribe for updates (in the top right section of the page) to stay up to date.
