Fore Street Summer Fair celebrates 18 months of Shaping Edmonton

Residents from the Joyce & Snell’s Estate and across Angel Edmonton came together on Saturday 11 July for the Fore Street Summer Fair, celebrating 18 months of Enfield Council’s Shaping Edmonton programme.

The day also marked the reopening of Florence Hayes Recreation Ground, with families and young people enjoying a range of activities across the newly redeveloped play area and park entrance.

As part of the refurbishment, a variety of accessible and inclusive play features have been introduced, including a landmark climbing frame, scooter track, sensory trail and complete resurfacing of the multi-use games area using recycled trainers. Throughout the day, young people explored the new space through a scavenger hunt, while visitors also enjoyed face painting and activities on Enfield Council’s Youth Bus.

The celebrations featured music from a DJ van run by The DJ and MC Academy and a vibrant Mauritian dance performance by Segatastic Dance Company.

Residents also had the opportunity to share their views on a number of upcoming Shaping Edmonton projects, including plans for more greenery and safer junctions around Claremont Street, the revitalisation of Leeds Street Market, and improvements to Angel Community Centre. Community growers from the Joyce & Snell’s Community Garden hosted a plant sale and highlighted opportunities for local people to get involved.
