Bowes East Controlled Parking Zone

Overview

Parking controls operating from 11am to 1pm on weekdays are proposed to match the controls in place on streets to the south. The likely layout of bays is shown on the accompanying plan.

Some residents continue to ask for a permit system in this area to help manage on-street parking. In particular, a large petition was previously submitted by residents of Tottenhall Road. A permit parking scheme would deter parking by daily commuters as well as drivers from surrounding roads.

Similar streets nearby in Haringey benefit from existing weekday parking controls operating from 11am to 1pm. Limited hour weekday controls have worked well for the ladder roads west of Green Lanes under the 2019 Bowes Park CPZ.

Permit prices:

The current annual permit prices are shown below for limited hour CPZs (up to 4 hours). The prices are doubled for a zone that operates for more than 4 hours. The option of limited hour controls therefore helps make permits more affordable.

Please note that the Council is currently considering changing the way that it charges for permits, possibly moving away from the link to engine size. Permits are and will remain free to blue badge holders.

Bike hangers:

The positions for the cycle hangers shown on the plan are indicative only. Localised consultation would follow on the exact locations. In other schemes providing hangers has been seen to prompt new demand for cycle parking. Each hanger stores six cycles in less space than is needed for a car.
