What is a flood alleviation scheme?
Bullmoors Lane suffers from a 1 in 30 surface water flood risk. Flood alleviation schemes are designed to reduce flooding on people, property and infrastructure. When heavy rain falls, water often runs over quicky over hard surfaces like roads, roofs and pavements. This sometimes can overwhelm drains and lead to flooding. Flood alleviation schemes help slow the water down, give it somewhere safe to go and release it gradually.
Why are we lowering the playground?
Lowering of the playground ground level to help reduce localised flooding, while also improving step-free access for disabled users and those with pushchairs
