Project Update: Bowes Road Bus Lane

Following an 18 month trial period, a decision has been made to permanently implement the bus lane on Bowes Road. The project has been delivered as part of the TfL-funded Bus Priority programme, which focuses on delivering quicker and more consistent bus travel.

Anyone could make an objection or representation in writing during a six-month statutory objection period, between July 2024 and December 2024. Thank you to everyone who provided a response during this time.

The decision to permanently implement the bus lane comes after analysis of travel data collected during the trial period alongside objections and representations received from local residents. The analysis demonstrated an increase in daily public transport use at the bus lane location, improvements to bus journey times through the area, and a more balanced distribution of traffic along this section of Bowes Road throughout the day.
