Cedars Road Controlled Parking Zone

Overview

In response to a petition from residents, we are consulting on the idea of a permit parking scheme (or Controlled Parking Zone) for the Cedars Road area.

A CPZ is an area where residents are given parking priority over other drivers through a permit system, with permits only available for residents living within the zone. There is a charge for permits, which is currently based on vehicle engine size and the operational hours of the CPZ.

These charges are currently under review, with a proposal that we move to charges based on vehicle emissions rather than engine size. Further details of this proposal can be found at https://new.enfield.gov.uk/consultations/2020-12-11-residents-tariffs-in-controlled-parking-zones-cpzs/

What is being proposed?

A CPZ is an area where residents are given parking priority over other drivers through a permit system. Only those living in Cedars Road CPZ zone can buy permits.

Parking controls will operate 7-9am and 5-7pm, seven days a week. This should prove effective at also deterring all-day parking by workers and discouraging use of resident bays by shoppers.

This consultation provides you with the opportunity to make objections to the traffic management orders that need to be made if the scheme is to be introduced

Objections and Comments must reach us in writing by 5th January 2022, and can be submitted:

a) Via the survey on this consultation page

b) By email to traffic@enfield.gov.uk

c) By letter sent to the Civic Centre and marked for attention of 'Traffic Team' quoting Ref: CRCPZ

  • Why is this needed?

The community has reported problems in these roads due to scarce on-street parking space being occupied by residents of other nearby homes who have alternative parking but chose to park on-street to avoid privately-operated permit charges. In addition, should new homes be built in the area (such as on the site at the end of Cedars Road), they could be excluded from the controlled parking zone, helping to ensure that on-street space is retained for existing residents. Permit controls for the on-street spaces in Cedars Road and the western end of Highfield Road will therefore offer better balance to local parking arrangements and give priority to the existing households directly adjacent.

Permit controls would offer better balance to local parking arrangements and give priority to residents.
