Construction of Electric Quarter CPZ
Following the statutory consultation on the proposals for a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) in the Electric Quarter area held in September 2025, the decision has been made to introduce the CPZ. The Responses to Objections report is available here.
The Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) will operate from 8am to 6:30pm Monday to Sunday.
Site works
Site works will begin the week commencing Monday 9 February 2026 and will include:
- Installation of new statutory signs and associated posts from Monday 9 February 2026
- Supporting road marking works from Monday 2 March to Friday 13 March 2026, including:
- Parking bays
- Double and single yellow lines
- Re-marking of existing disabled parking bays
Site notices will be displayed shortly to remind all residents and businesses of the upcoming works.
Temporary traffic management measures will be used at intervals to ensure that the Council complies with relevant health and safety legislation throughout the project.
Throughout these works access to all properties will be maintained at all times.
The Council apologises in advance for any inconvenience, including noise or vibration that may occur during these works. Our contractors and staff will make every effort to minimise disruption during this works period.

What happens next
The Council will be writing to all listed postal addresses shortly, regarding the next stage of the proposed introduction of the Electric Quarter Controlled Parking Zone. This will consist of parking permit types, their associated prices and how to apply.
It is hoped that a parking permit scheme with the supporting parking controls will help maximise space for residents and businesses in the area by creating a better balance to parking arrangements and help ensure access for essential services.
