The Electric Quarter CPZ will soon be in operation

Construction works for the Electric Quarter Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) have now been completed, including signage, posts, and road markings, and the scheme will soon come into effect. We apologise for the delay. The zone will come into effect from Monday 27 July 2026 and will be enforceable from that day onwards. Only vehicles displaying valid permits may park on the streets named below during the zone’s operating hours of 8am to 6.30pm, Monday to Sunday:

• Beryl Street
• Belling Crescent
• College Court Road (including Hughes Court and College Court)
• Colwell Cresent (including Gertie Court)
• Derby Road (including Andrew House, Derby Court, Dove Court; but not including Osprey Mews and Lockhart Close)
• Ediswan Way
• High Street - the following properties only: 164 to 186 High Street; 190 High Street - Frost Court; 194 High Street - Head Court
• Kingsway (but not including Poppy Drive or Emilia Close)
• Loraine Close
• Lincoln Road – the following properties only: 320, 322, 324, 326, 328, 330, 332, 334, 336, 338, 340, 342. 344 and 354
• Queensway, Swan Walk (including Ambrose Court)

The CPZ aims to help maximise space for existing residents and improve road safety within the area. Its introduction follows the statutory consultation on draft traffic order TG52/1595 held in September 2025. A map of the zone boundary is shown below.

Resident Parking Permits - Eligibility

The CPZ will be enforced using permits, which residents can apply for online. The cost of the Electric Quarter CPZ permits are detailed in the table overleaf, with a maximum of three permits per applicant.

Resident permit prices are based on vehicle engine size.

A book of 10 half‑day vouchers is available for purchase for visitor parking only. These vouchers allow holders to park within any all‑day restriction zone, at a cost of £21.

Blue badge holders within the zone are eligible for one free annual permit, upon application.

Any eligible applicant living within the zone boundary can apply online; however, holding a permit does not always guarantee the availability of a convenient parking space when needed.

Vehicles parked during operational hours without displaying a valid permit may be liable to receive a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) and could be removed to the Council’s vehicle pound.

How to Apply

Residents who live within the zone can apply for a permit via the Councils website here.

Proof of vehicle ownership and proof of residency (dated within the last three months) must be provided during the application process. The name and address on all proof must be the same and match the addresses within the Electric Quarter CPZ area in which the permit is being applied for.

When applying for your permit, please select the start date as 27 July 2026.
