Enfield Town to Ponders End Station - Fotheringham Road Bus Gate Update

We are writing to inform you about upcoming changes to the existing traffic restrictions at the northern end of Fotheringham Road that will come into effect on 15/07/2025.

As part of the Enfield Town to Ponders End Station Walking and Cycling Route an Automatic Plate Recognition (ANPR) camera has been installed to enforce restrictions for the bus gate located on Fotheringham Road. A bus gate is a point on the road where only buses, cyclists, and other exempt motor vehicles such as emergency services can pass through from either direction.

If any other person drives a motor vehicle through the camera-enforced restriction in a direction that is not permitted, they will be subject to a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).

Specifically, once the camera has been operational, vehicles will not be able to enter Fotheringham Road from Southbury Road or Kimberley Gardens but will be permitted to exit on Fotheringham Road to Southbury Road.

The camera enforcement will begin on 15/07/2025

The purpose of this measure is to provide a quieter, safer, and more pleasant environment that will encourage people to walk, wheel and cycle for more of their journeys.
