Enfield Town Liveable Neighbourhood improvements nearing completion

Construction works for Phase 2A of the Enfield Town Liveable Neighbourhood project are nearing completion, with final works expected to be substantially finished by Easter.
Significant progress has been made across the project area, along Church Street and Fountain Island. A key focus of this phase has been improvements to the pavement in front of Market Square, helping to create a more welcoming and accessible space at the heart of Enfield Town.
These improvements include new paving, upgraded crossings and four new trees, providing more greenery, helping to soften the streetscape and create a more pleasant environment for residents, visitors and shoppers. Historical art panels are proposed to be installed in the summer (subject to planning) adding to this space and telling the fascinating story of the market square. New seating will also be added in the summer.

Cllr Sabri Ozaydin, Cabinet Member for Environment and Placemaking, recently visited the site to see the progress being made and meet the team delivering the improvements.
Across Phase 2A, works have also delivered wider footways, improved pedestrian crossings and changes to traffic management, including the introduction of a 24-hour bus lane on part of Church Street. Together, these improvements aim to make Enfield Town safer, greener and easier to get around.

We recognise that construction works can cause temporary disruption and would like to thank residents, businesses and visitors for their continued patience while these improvements are completed.
Information on the recently approved next phase of construction (Phase 2B) will be shared on Let’s Talk Enfield and with local residents via letter in the coming months.
