Introducing the Enfield Town Steering Group

The new Enfield Town Steering Group have held their first meetings, working together to develop their vision to improve Enfield Town Centre and are curating a programme of cultural events and activities around the town centre across 2026.

The group brings together representatives from community, cultural, heritage and voluntary organisations, local businesses and the public sector. It has been set up to build local capacity, better coordinate existing activity and support new ideas that help Enfield Town to be a safe, vibrant, welcoming and inclusive place for everyone.

The group is in the process of recruiting an independent Chair to provide strategic and inclusive leadership and to ensure their programme for Enfield Town is sustainable and delivers maximum impact for all communities. The group is also creating a paid opportunity for a young producer in Enfield to deliver a spring-summer cultural programme and activate outdoor spaces around the town centre.

The group is seeking an experienced leader who is passionate about shaping the future of Enfield Town Centre. You can find out more about the Chair role and recruitment process here. Updates on other opportunities and events will be posted on Let’s Talk Enfield and on The Enfield Town Steering Group - Open Collective page

Each of the group’s members have shared an introduction, offering insight into their connection to Enfield Town and their ambitions for the group, which we will be sharing through news updates this week.

Chris Theodoulou - Enfield Town Business Association

Myself and my wife have built our business Emma Claire Hair and Beauty Spa in Church Street. We opened the business in January 1976, and I am proud that our business has been established in the town for 50 years where we are the longest running independent business. As vice chair of Enfield Town Business Association, I have also had the honour to represent Enfield Town businesses in many aspects of local issues for over 2 decades. I also had the privilege of being a governor for George Spicer Primary School for several years.

I want to create an Enfield Town that reflects our diverse culture and be representative of all voices. I passionately believe that everybody has equal value and that their voices should be heard

Clare Moloney - Enfield Council

I have been working in Enfield Town for 4 years, through my work as Create Enfield Manager and Place Shaping Manager at Enfield Council. Throughout that time, I have conceptualised, commissioned, and delivered place-based capital projects and cultural programmes that have reanimated different parts of the town centre, and which have celebrated and showcased the rich creativity and cultural heritage of Enfield. As Place Shaping Manager, I have oversight of projects delivered in North Enfield and have established good relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and sectors in Enfield Town.

My ambition for Enfield Town: I would love to see a more active and welcoming town centre during the evening hours, where the town’s culture, heritage and diverse businesses are rightly celebrated and fully appreciated. As well as providing a rich experience for residents, I would like to see the town centre become a desirable destination for culture, heritage, shopping, eating experiences; and to see more arts and culture happening throughout the town centre in places such as Fountain Island, Palace Gardens, Market Place, Saddlers Square, Library Green and Town Park.

Emma Rigby - Love Your Doorstep

I represent Love Your Doorstep, a long-established community platform supporting local residents, businesses and organisations across Enfield.

I have a strong personal and professional connection to Enfield and have worked locally for over a decade, building trusted community networks both online and on the ground. Through Love Your Doorstep, I lead community engagement initiatives and the Enfield Town Community Patrol, working closely with residents, businesses and partners to improve safety, communication and pride in the area.

My ambition for the Steering Group is to help create a more joined-up, responsive and welcoming Enfield Town that genuinely reflects local voices and delivers meaningful, visible improvements.

John ColeThe Enfield Society

I am representing The Enfield Society, where I am co-chair and active volunteer committed to protecting and enhancing Enfield’s heritage, environment, and community spaces.

As a resident of over 60 years, I am deeply rooted in the borough. I chair the Friends of Enfield Chase, co-founded the Friends of Gordon Hill Station, and have helped deliver local public art projects, including murals and community mosaics across Enfield Town.

I currently lead community engagement for the Lottery-funded Unlocking Broomfield project.

Working alongside the Steering Group and our new Chair, I hope to help create a safe, inclusive, sustainable and culturally vibrant Enfield Town, uniting existing and newly arrived residents and community groups to honour our market town’s history while shaping its future.
