Introducing the Enfield Town Steering Group

The new Enfield Town Steering Group have held their first meetings, working together to develop a plan to support and deliver events and activities around the town centre across 2026.

The group brings together representatives from community, cultural, heritage and voluntary organisations, local businesses and the public sector. It has been set up to build local capacity, better coordinate existing activity and support new ideas that help Enfield Town to be a safe, vibrant, welcoming and inclusive place for everyone.

Each of the group’s members have shared an introduction, offering insight into their connection to Enfield Town and their ambitions for the group, which we will be sharing through news updates this week.

Courtney Ward - One to One Enfield

I was raised in Enfield during my childhood and I moved back into Enfield as an adult. As a neurodivergent individual, both early and late diagnosed, I have found my voice through many methods including poetry, art and also advocacy and talks, bringing acceptance and inclusivity. I represent One-to-One Enfield as I have lived experiences of what inclusivity should look like and what actually takes place, and what our future can hold to support those who are neurodivergent and have disabilities in a better way. From the time I spent outside of Enfield, I learnt some positive things that other boroughs across the country do that I would like to bring to Enfield.

Kathy Worrall - Christmas Parade of Light

I am proud to call Enfield both my birthplace and home, having been born, educated, and worked here.

I am the co-founder of The Enfield Christmas Parade of Light, which began in 2011, and have helped nurture this annual event for over 15 years, welcoming new groups as it grows. My connections with local theatre and youth groups, including ARTSTART, have proven invaluable. The Christmas Parade’s success has inspired two further annual events in Enfield: the June Community FUNdraising Day and in September Emergency Services Day.

I co-organise these occasions with the support of a diverse range of Borough groups, such as The Rotary Clubs, Exodus YouthWorxs, NYCC, Enfield Women’s Centre, Enfield Carers, Soroptimists UK, and others.

My ambition for the group is to engage with businesses to be involved with events that attract more visitors into Enfield Town to shop And enjoy it’s rich hospitality offer etc.

Preston Gaddy - Palace Gardens Shopping Centre

I have been involved in the Shopping Centre industry for some 25 years and moved from South Africa 3 years ago. I have been managing Palace Shopping on behalf of DWS for over 2 ½ years and am extremely passionate about ensuring Palace Shopping can better integrate and collaborate with the Enfield Community.

Despite living some distance away in Kew Gardens, Enfield Town has become an integral part of my daily life as I am based here 5 days a week and also every other Saturday. I have become acquainted, and worked closely, with various role players within the Enfield Council, the Journeys & Places Team, the Enfield Society, local Schools as well as numerous Charity organisations.

As part of the Steering Group, I hope to make a meaningful contribution to ensuring that Enfield Town once again becomes a vibrant, safe and prosperous community, where people from all walks of life have the opportunity to flourish.

Sarisha Kumar - Dugdale Arts Centre

I am a multidisciplinary programme director and cultural venue leader specialising in cross-art form creative programming, community co-creation, and talent development. I am passionate about diversity and inclusion, devising work with artists and communities, and democratising arts and culture.

As the Venue and Cultural Programme Manager of Dugdale Arts Centre (DAC), I lead our public artistic programme and support borough-wide public cultural celebrations and anniversaries such as Pride, Windrush, South Asian Heritage Month, and Black History Month. I have developed a 3-year Community Engagement Strategy for DAC, represented Enfield in the North Central London Creative Health partnership, and am a member of the London Cultural Forum. I am also a Trustee at the Almeida Theatre in London and sit on the EDI Committee.
