Next batch of proposed EV charging points

Over the coming weeks, Enfield Council will be proposing new Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points across the borough to help support cleaner air, reduce carbon emissions and make it easier for people to choose lower emission vehicles.

How locations have been identified

Proposed locations have been selected using a demand mapping tool to help identify where chargers are likely to be most needed across the borough. This approach considers factors such as existing vehicle ownership, access to off-street parking and local demand.

Each site has also been assessed to ensure it is suitable for installation, including being positioned at the front of the footway and meeting the correct technical requirements for safe and practical delivery.

The proposal is to deliver EV charging points on lamp columns. There are no dedicated EV parking or charging bays proposed.

Consultation delivered in batches

Due to the number of proposed locations, consultations will be delivered in batches over the coming months. This will allow residents to focus on proposals in their local area and ensure that feedback can be carefully considered for each group of sites.

Residents and businesses located near proposed charging point locations will receive a letter when consultation in their area begins. The letter will include details of the proposals and explain how to provide representations.

Each batch will also be available to view online via the Let’s Talk Enfield website, where anyone can review the proposals and submit comments during the consultation period.

All representations received will be carefully considered before any final decisions are taken.

Delivery and next steps

The proposed operator is char.gy. Should the decision be made to proceed following consultation, char.gy would install the charging points in the months after the consultation period ends.

We will keep residents updated on the outcome of each consultation batch and any next steps.

Supporting a greener Enfield

Providing more local EV charging infrastructure forms part of Enfield’s wider commitment to creating a more vibrant, greener and healthier borough. Transport is one of the biggest contributors to carbon emissions, and enabling the transition to electric vehicles is an important step in reducing our environmental impact while supporting residents to travel in ways that work for them.

We encourage residents to take part when consultation in their area opens and to share their views.
