Enfield Council is proposing to introduce 30 minutes of free parking, once per vehicle per day, across eligible on-street paid parking bays and Council operated pay-to-park car parks:

  • Eligible on-street paid parking bays from Monday to Sunday
  • All Council operated pay-to-park car parks from Monday to Saturday

Car parks in Enfield Town will remain the same with 3-hours free on Sundays.

We are seeking feedback from residents, businesses and visitors before any final decision is made.

The proposal aims to support local high streets and town centres by making it easier for people to access shops, services and businesses across the borough, especially for short visits and everyday trips.

We want to understand how this proposal could affect residents, businesses and visitors, and whether you support the introduction of a borough-wide 30-minute free parking period for Council operated car parks and bays.

What is being proposed?

The proposal would introduce:

  • 30 minutes of free parking, once per vehicle per day
    • In eligible on-street paid parking bays across the borough from Monday to Sunday
    • In Council operated pay to park car parks from Monday to Saturday
  • Existing Sunday charging arrangements in Enfield Town car parks, including the current three hours free parking offer, would remain unchanged.

Why are we proposing this?

Our town centres and high streets play an important role in the daily lives of residents and the local economy. The proposal has been developed to:

  • Encourage more people to visit local high streets and town centres
  • Improve access to shops, services and community facilities
  • Support local businesses and economic activity
  • Make short visits more convenient for people who live in the borough, as well as visit the borough
  • Help maintain vibrant and thriving local town centres across Enfield.
