Your ideas for future cycle routes

Enfield Council are committed to creating a connected network of safe cycle routes throughout the borough. Our work to enable people to walk and cycle for short journeys addresses both the pressures on our road system as well as pressures on the NHS in tackling the effects of obesity. Independent projections show that the population of the borough will grow to over 360,000 by 2030 that will undoubtedly increase the number of cars on our roads, and currently the NHS spends in excess of £80 million a year in Enfield managing the effects of obesity. The Council believes it is essential that it provides the infrastructure to encourage people to cycle local trips safely. If the Council does not invest in new infrastructure, the borough’s roads will become more and more congested. By encouraging people to cycle more and drive less we hope to see a reduction in pollution from motor vehicles.

Our Active Travel Map (listed to the right of this page) shows where we already have plans to develop new cycle routes.
