Jan Kattein Architects to convert Edmonton garages into affordable workspace

Jan Kattein Architects have won permission to convert the vacant garages on the Joyce and Snells estate into affordable workspace. The project will see the garages, as well as a next-door laundry yard, turned into 35 small units. It will also feature public realm work designed by local practice Fisher Cheng.

The units will be let out at an affordable rate by Launch It, a social enterprise that rents space to entrepreneurs aged 18-30, over a five-year period. Launch It already runs an enterprise hub in nearby Tottenham.

Read more about the project which has been shared in the Architects Journal.
