Project update – March 2026

Enfield Council has developed a concept design for the Green Lanes, Hedge Lane and Bourne Hill walking improvements scheme. The proposals focus on making it easier and safer for people to cross the junction, including new pedestrian crossings on all arms, alongside improvements to the existing cycling arrangements.

To help shape the proposals, we have undertaken an extensive traffic modelling exercise to test different design options. This work has allowed us to refine the scheme to improve conditions for people walking and cycling, while seeking to minimise impacts on traffic and bus journey times.

Enfield Council is working closely with Transport for London as the design goes through the formal assessment process.

Subject to approval by Transport for London, the project will move into the detailed design stage. Updated designs will then be shared as part of statutory consultation, which is expected to take place in early summer.
