The Pride in Place Programme is a long‑term national investment programme funded by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), focused on supporting neighbourhoods across Great Britain that are considered most in need. The programme aims to strengthen local pride, improve social infrastructure and elevate local voices to shape the future of their area through community‑led regeneration and improvement projects.
The programme is built around three broad objectives which neighbourhoods are expected to consider when identifying priorities and developing long-term plans.
Build stronger communitiesSupporting community cohesion, belonging, local pride and stronger connections between residents and organisations.
Create thriving placesImproving neighbourhood spaces and local assets, including the public realm, high streets, community facilities and green spaces where these reflect local priorities.
Strengthen local voicesGiving residents a meaningful role in shaping decisions, identifyingpriorities and influencing the long-term direction of their neighbourhood.
Enfield Wash has been selected as one of the neighbourhoods to benefit from this national programme and can receive up to £20 million over ten years, with the programme focused on places of around 10,000 residents that are described as ‘doubly disadvantaged’ because they experience both high levels of deprivation and weaker social infrastructure.
Delivery of the programme will be led locally through the Neighbourhood Board and its independent Chair, working in partnership with the local MP Feryal Clark, Enfield Council and the wider community to co‑produce a long‑term plan for the area and ensure that decision‑making is genuinely community‑led.
For Enfield Wash, this provides an opportunity to support long‑term neighbourhood improvement through a community‑led approach, ensuring that residents have a meaningful role in shaping priorities for their area.
