Key Dates

The first School Streets launched in March 2020 at St Monica's Catholic Primary School and Oakthorpe Primary.

Twelve new School Streets were introduced as trials in September 2020. These School Streets have since been made permanent. The School Streets are at the following schools:

• George Spicer Primary School
• Hazelbury Primary School
• Keys Meadow Primary School
• Kingfisher Hall Primary Academy
• Lavender Primary School
• Meridian Angel Primary School
• Raynham Primary School
• St. Paul's Church of England Primary School
• Worcesters Primary School

A consultation period ran from 25th may 2022 to 19 June 2022. Letters were sent to parents and residents inviting them to take part on a consultation proposing School Streets at the below sites.

The existing George Spicer School Street on Sketty Road is supported by ANPR from 4th July it will be in operation 08.30-9.15AM and 2.45-3.45PM

Public Consultation regarding the proposed additional mitigations for the George Spicer School Street. The the draft traffic orders can be found here. and the Survey is located on the School Streets homepage. The consultation closes 14th August 2022.

Following the public consultation to introduce School Streets at the following sites, works have commenced. Those who participated in the consultation will have received notification of the councils decision to proceed and been directed to the report on the consultations findings that can be found on the main page. Further information will be provided to businesses, residents, parents and the community about when these sites will go live and permit applications are available.

School Streets 'Go Live' 

• St Mary's Catholic Primary School, Durants Road, 8.15-9.15am & 2.30-3.30pm
• St James Church of England Primary School, 8.15-9.15am & 2.45-3.30pm

As part of the wider Clean Air Route on Grove Street 'School Street' has been introduced. This School Street is part of the full time restrictions put in place. 

The School Street at Delta Primary School has launched. This means that the Cul-De-Sac off of the Nightingale Road that accesses the school will be closed during term times Monday to Friday 8.15-9.00am and 3.00pm-3.30pm. The decision to implement the street was made following a Statutory Consultation held in July 2023.

School Streets create a safer space around schools by reducing vehicle movements near the school gates. The school street is enforced using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) Cameras. If a vehicle drives through the zone during hours of operation without an exemption they will be issued a PCN.

The School Street at Bowes Primary School has launched! This means that entry into Highworth Road, between Union Road and the A406, will be restricted during term times Monday to Friday 8.30am-9.15am and 3.00pm-3.45pm. 

School Streets create safer and cleaner space around schools by reducing motor vehicles near the school gates and entrances. It's enforced using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras, so a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) will be issued if a vehicle drives through the area during the the hours of operation without an appropriate exemption.

Chesterfield Primary School Street, Chesterfield Road, Monday-Friday from 8.30- 9.15am and 2.45-3.45pm.

Prince Of Wales Primary School Street, Salisbury Road, Monday-Friday from 8.30- 9.00am and 3.00-3.30pm.

Latymer All Saints Primary School Street, Granham Gardens and Dunholme Road to the junction with Northern Avenue from Monday-Friday 8.15- 9.15am and 2.45-3.45pm.
