Sunnyside CPZ Preliminary Engagement Survey

Enfield Council is proposing a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) within the boundaries of Sunnyside Roads (North, South and East) and Leonard Road. A CPZ is a permit parking scheme that aims to help make it easier for local residents to park near to their homes. The Council is proposing a controlled period of Monday to Sunday from 9am to 6:30pm.

We are now proposing a design for the new CPZ and welcome your comments by Sunday 22 June 2025. A map of the design is enclosed with this letter.

Why is this needed?

CPZs can help deliver a number of benefits. For instance, they can help improve highway safety by reducing inconsiderate and indiscriminate parking. In addition, they can lead to a drop in the number of vehicles circulating in an area looking for parking space, leading to a reduction in congestion, noise and air pollution.

In a CPZ, residents are given parking priority over other drivers through a permit system. It deters parking by daily commuters as well as people driving from surrounding roads. Those who benefit most, car owners within the zone, pay an annual permit fee which helps cover the ongoing cost of administering, enforcing and maintaining the scheme, as applies to all other zones in the borough.

Permit prices

The Council’s annual prices for resident permits are shown below. The proposals do not include business permit provision. Permits are free to blue badge holders. Nurses and health workers needing to visit clients within Enfield’s parking zones can apply for an essential user permit. Visitors providing routine care to family members based in the zone can also apply for a permit, priced as shown. In other cases, a scratch card system is used to allow visitors to park in bays during the controlled period. These are only sold to households within the zone. A book of ten costs £21.
