Feedback - Phase 1 of Connaught Gardens Quieter Neighbourhood

Residents in the Connaught Gardens and Surrounding Streets Quieter Neighbourhood area have raised concerns with Enfield Council over traffic issues for many years. The trial of Connaught Gardens Quieter Neighbourhood – Phase 1 has been introduced as a response to these concerns.

Phase 1 of the trial has included the introduction of a one-way system on Windsor Road, Osborne Road and short sections of Lightcliffe Road and New River Crescent. It also included the introduction of 20 mph speed limits on Osborne Road, Windsor Road, Park Avenue, Lightcliffe Road, New River Crescent, and Kingsley Road.

The project has been implemented as a trial using Experimental Traffic Orders (ETO) which require a period of consultation with local residents, businesses and other stakeholders during the trial period.

There will be a range of assessments that will need to be balanced when judging the overall success of the trial. Assessments will include:

  • Residents’ views on how the benefits of the project compare against the disbenefits
  • Data on the volume of motor vehicle movements in the area
  • Data on the speed of motor vehicles in the area
  • Impacts on the primary roads surrounding the area
  • Bus journey time considerations through discussion with Transport for London
  • Outcomes of ongoing dialogue with the Emergency Services.

Now that the community have had the opportunity to experience the trial working in practice, we would like to invite you to share your feedback. The responses will be analysed and summarised in the formal report that will inform any decision made.
