Enfield Council is committed to supporting cleaner, greener travel options for everyone across the borough. To make it easier for residents to switch to electric vehicles (EVs), we’re installing 1,000 new EV charging points into existing streetlight columns across Enfield.
This rollout will help residents without driveways or off-street parking enjoy the convenience of charging their vehicle close to home. The new chargers will be low-cost and low-speed, making them ideal for overnight or long-stay use.
This project forms part of a wider programme to create an accessible network of EV chargers of all speeds across the borough. The full programme, expected to begin in 2026, aims to ensure that all residents have shared access to an EV charger within a short walk of their home.
How it works
1,000 new charge points will be installed on existing lamp columns throughout the borough.
These installations use existing infrastructure, helping to keep costs and street clutter low.
The chargers are designed for residential use, suitable for drivers who park overnight or for longer periods.
Our partner Char.gy will manage the installation and operation of the charge points.
Get involved
We’re inviting residents to suggest a location for one of the new charging points. If you would like to see a charger installed on a lamp column near your home, you can submit a request here. All locations will be reviewed against installation criteria, including technical suitability and accessibility.
