Forty Hall Controlled Parking Zone
Enfield Council is proposing a scheme to introduce car parking charges at the Forty Hall and Estate car park. This will help to improve traffic management, enhance environmental sustainability, and improve the overall visitor experience at Forty Hall. For more information, please click here.
However, the introduction of the parking charges is expected to result in a displacement of vehicles onto nearby streets. To help manage this, the Council is proposing to implement a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) in the area surrounding Forty Hall and Estate.
Permit parking controls can bring better balance to parking arrangements and help ensure access for residents and essential services.
What is being proposed?
A permit parking scheme and associated parking controls are proposed to operate from 9am to 6.30pm, Monday to Sunday,, including Bank Holidays, to help protect and maximise parking space for residents throughout the week. The likely layout of bays is shown on the plan provided. Permit holders would be able to park in any resident bay within the CPZ.
Why is this needed?
The introduction of parking charges at Forty Hall and Estate may lead some visitors to park on nearby residential streets. This could make it harder for residents to park close to their homes and may lead to dangerous and obstructive parking.
A permit system can help by tackling obstructive parking at junctions, deterring households with numerous cars or vans taking up excessive space in the street, and clearing out abandoned or seldom-used vehicles.
Permits: Prices and Eligibility
Resident and visitor permits: Annual permit prices for an all-day parking zone are shown below and are set to ensure that schemes fully cover their operating costs. To be eligible for a resident permit you must live in the CPZ, have a vehicle registered at your address, and not be part of a car free or low car housing development. Resident permits are limited to three per person. Visitor permits are also available for everyone living in the CPZ.
Blue Badge Holders and Carers: Blue badge holders living in the zone can apply for their annual permit free of charge. Nurses, etc. who are required to visit clients within any Enfield Council parking zone can apply for an Essential User Permit, so the extended controls should not hinder care visits. Visitors providing routine care to family members based in the zone can also apply for an annual permit, as priced below.
