As part the Journeys and Places programme, Enfield Council is proposing a walking and cycling route from the New River (at the Tenniswood Road bridge) to Cycleway 1 (Hertford Road) via Brick Lane. This proposed route will connect with the Enfield Town to Broxbourne Walking and Cycling Route at Tenniswood Road, and pass the Enfield Playing Fields as well as Bishop Stopford’s School and Suffolks Primary School. This project is part of the Council’s work to encourage more people to walk, wheel and cycle in the borough.

We are launching a period of engagement to hear from residents, businesses and others interested in the project about their ideas for the route, their views on the proposed alignment for the route, and any issues in the area we should know about regarding walking, wheeling and cycling.

The proposed interventions will:

  • Improve facilities for people travelling east to west by walking, wheeling and cycling
  • Link the Enfield Town to Broxbourne Walking and Cycling Route with Cycleway 1 (A1010 North) and the cycle route through Enfield Playing Fields
  • Increase the number of green spaces around Brick Lane.
