This project has now concluded.
Enfield Council has upgraded a section of the A1010 High Street in Ponders End to improve the experience for all road users along the High Street. This follows previous projects that introduced and improved pedestrian and cycling facilities on the A1010. The project area goes from the High Street outside the Ponders End Park to the area on the High Street outside Tesco, opposite Eagle House Surgery. For more details, please see the project overview map located in the Documents section of the project page.
The project delivered the following:
- Cycle facilities between recently completed projects on the A1010 to the north and south of this area
- Bus stop improvements along the High Street to provide more room for pedestrians, bus passengers and cyclists
- Improvements to the condition of the road that was previously aged and in poor condition
- A 20mph speed limit in the area introduced to improve safety of all road users.
Some loading and parking changes were made in order to facilitate the above improvements. We have engaged with business to ensure their loading needs are understood and feedback received during this engagement informed the designs.
This project has now been implemented.
