Introduction

Enfield Town will be undergoing an exciting transformation that will see a range of improvements delivered in the coming years.

Enfield Council launched the Let’s Talk Enfield Town project in September 2019 to hear your ideas on how we can improve the area. Through a series of activities and events, we asked how you currently and how you would like to:

  • Spend time in Enfield Town
  • Travel to and from Enfield Town
  • Travel around Enfield Town

Through a series of workshop, on-street pop-ups and a survey, we heard about a range of issues in the Town Centre and some exciting ideas for the future. A report on the findings from the engagement period will be uploaded to this page in the coming weeks.

Background

In March 2019, Enfield Council was awarded £6 million from the Mayor of London's Liveable Neighbourhoods programme to help improve Enfield Town.

Following this community engagement programme we will be developing proposals for Enfield Town based on the ideas and comments that we have heard. Once the proposals have been developed there will be opportunities to view them and make further comments.

Since launching Let's Talk Enfield Town on 15 September, we have spoken to over 500 people at events including the Leader of Enfield Council's Town Centre Meeting, a series of pop-ups stalls and three workshops with the community. We have met with a range of key stakeholders in Enfield Town including Enfield Vision, Enfield Town Business Association, Enfield Wheelchair Users, St Andrew’s Church and local schools.

We have also held the first two meetings of the Enfield Town Consultative Group, a group of community and business representatives that will act as a consultative group throughout the life of the project.

Online, more than 100 people have completed the online survey and hundreds of ideas have been collected at our pop-up events.

We have had a high level of interest in the project and have therefore decided to extend the period of engagement to Sunday 10 November 2019 to ensure as many people as possible can share their ideas on the future of Enfield Town.

We will be scheduling more pop-ups in Enfield Town, the dates for which you will find under 'Key Dates' on the project page. We will also be conducting visits to local businesses in the Town Centre to speak with them about their specific requirements and ideas for Enfield Town. The team will also run an additional student workshop and continue to meet with local stakeholders who have expressed an interest in the project. If you haven't already, you can also participate online by completing the Community Survey or our Youth Survey (for anyone aged under 18).

Thank you again for contributing your ideas for the future of Enfield Town. We aim to publish a report before Christmas and will share the findings with the wider community. The report will be used to help inform design ideas to be developed next year which you also be able to comment on.
